Episode 55: Alive, but not Well

Pan and Xevo have finally found the "village" the old Saiyan told them about. The village was actually a town, not as highly developed like Tsufurukan City, but it wasn't far behind. The inhabitants looked like humans, but also had animalistic features like pointy ears, yellowish skin, cat-like eyes and a tail. They were like a fusion between a human and a jaguar, both without the spots and without the very sharp senses. They wore regular clothes and seemed very peaceful, despite their animalistic appearance. After hearing Pan's and Xevo's story, they admitted that indeed they were looking after a purple-skinned man who was dying. The townsmen immediately took the kids to the dying person, and after seeing who it was, the kids were not only were happy, but also freaked out. At last, Kibitoshin has been also found, alive, but not well at all; he was literally nothing but skin and bones and at the edge of certain death.
-What happened to him?-Xevo asked.
-We found him about a month ago lying on the ground, unconscious, in a forrest nearby.-one of the townsman answered-Since then, he hasn't woken up at all, and as you can see, he's slowly dying.
-But what's causing his slow death?
-We believe he was accidentally bitten by a Korioid, a very dangerous bug, the size of an adult palm. It's poison paralyzed him as the bug laid its eggs inside of his body. Before crawling out, it left enough poison inside of his system for the eggs to have time to hatch. The larvas are also very poisonous and keep him paralyzed until they slowly undergo complete metamorphosis as they little by little devour him from the inside.
-How horrible!
-Oh, my gosh!-Pan shouted-So those things that are crawling and sticking out from underneath his skin are larvas?
-Yes, they are.-the townsman answered.
-But why don't you just cut them out?!-Xevo asked rather furious.
-It's not that easy. At the slightest sense of danger, the larvas immediately release more poison that would kill him. We even tried laser surgery, but to no prevail. Not on him of course; quite a few of our kind have also perished, thanks to these bugs. They are widely spread in the forests nearby and often venture in the town, that's why we keep the shield up and running, most of the time. Of course, they're rather the least of our worries, as there are even greater treats on this planet.
-Papa was wrong about this planet...-Pan started-This planet is not like Heaven, it's very much like Hell.-then a tear began flowing from her eyes.
-No!-Xevo shouted-We can't just give up on him! We have to try! Isn't there any other way to save him, to kill the larvas from inside?
-I'm afraid there's not enough time for that...-another townsman responded-All we could do is to feed him somehow, in order to prolong his life. It won't be long now until the larvas fully develop, becoming bugs, as they come out and kill him.
-Please, tell us!
-Not only it's already too late, but it's very dangerous too, almost impossible. And even if you do manage to get a hold of a drop of venom somehow, by now it will surely kill him cause he's to weaken.
-Venom?
-Yes. In order to kill the poisonous larvas in his system, you need another kind of poison from a very big snake.
-How big?
-VERY BIG; About 60 meters long. It is the largest snake on this planet, and it also has two heads.
-Do you mean the 60-meter-long anaconda?!-Pan shouted amazed.
-I see you've seen it by now.
-And how do you know it would work?-Xevo asked.
-The giant anacondas have been terrorizing us since we got on this planet. In order to protect ourselves and be prepared for any of their attack, we had to study their behaviour, reproducing, how they hunt...Once we even managed to get a sample of venom from one of their dead preys, they haven't eaten, and found out they are not as poisonous as they should be. Even we had snakes on our planet, but they were only a few feet tall, and compared to their venom, these anacondas' venom should be 100 times stronger, but they're not. The only logical explanation would be that they evolved to be so big, that they relied on their venom less, since now they can easily kill any prey they want, so it hasn't become so much effective during the years.
-You guys keep saying these animals actually evolved from themselves!-Pan cut in madly-They haven't evolved on their own, they only would have IF 200 million earth years have passed; it was that stupid dragon, Shepo, who made them that way.-Xevo looked amazed at her, especially the townsmen.
-Anyway...the townsman continued-One drop of their venom, in normal conditions, meaning if your friend weren't already so weakened, would be enough to kill the parasites and cure him. But as I said, it's too late and too dangerous to procure the venom from the snakes. Don't you think we would have tried by now?
-Maybe it's dangerous for you guys, but for us, it will be a lot easier. As you could see, we can fly, and we also have unimaginable super strength that will be more than enough to take down one lousy snake. Well, at least one of us has...
-You haven't told us yet, what proof do you have, that one drop of a venom would cure him?-Xevo asked.
-Actually, we do have proof that it works. Meet my daughter, Leana!-and a middle-aged, beautiful, female doctor stood out from the crowd-She is the best doctor this town has, and it's she who came up with the "one-drop-venom" idea. Shortly after, she also has been bitten by a bug. It was then, when we thought to try out the venom sample, we procured earlier, on her, and it worked. With that small venom sample, we healed several others as well, but I repeat, they were given shortly after they were bitten and when their health was at maximum.
-So, all we really have to do is to find an anaconda in time, get a drop of venom, come back here and hope that Xaras will come soon as well, so we could give Kibitoshin the venom while Xaras cures him.-Xevo said.
-You mean that creature can cure others?-the townsman asked amazed-If only we knew, we would have sent someone to find him and bring him here by now.
-Don't worry. You had enough worries keeping your race alive. We are grateful that you kept our friend alive this long too. Now, will you tell us where do these anacondas usually hang out? The one we met was very far away from here. From what you said, there are some around this place as well. Can you at least point us to the right direction?
-Actually, we can do more than point you there; in fact, we can show you exactly were they are. We may have not been able to bring any of them down, since our weapons aren't efficient enough, as we could only scare them away, we did, however, managed to put tracking devices on them. Here, take my watch! This will help you find one with ease. If there's a slightest chance to save your friend's life, then it will be our pleasure to help out.
-Thank you, very much!-Xevo said, while putting the watch on his wrist.
-We'll be back as soon as possible.-Pan added-Please keep Kibitoshin alive until then!
-We will do our best.-the townsman replied-Good luck, kids! May Xas and Hiera be with you!
Will Pan and Xevo somehow manage to procure the poisonous cure for Kibitoshin in time? Or are they headed to their doom? Find out on the next thrilling episodes of Dragon Ball F!
