Dragon Ball Z Fan Film
Greetings once again Dragon Ball fans! Instead of posting a new DBF episode, I shall make an acquaintance to you with two brothers, who decided to make a short live-action DBZ fan film. But before that, I shall tell you my opinion why I decided to support them.
I always "bragged" about how Dragon Ball GT didn't turn out very good, it actually kind of sucked, and recently I also joined a DBZ forum, where I found out that many people share my opinion and hate DBGT. Of course, I wasn't surprised. However, many people around the world, not only they hate DBGT, but they also hate the DBZ live-action movie, which was released in 2009 by 20th Century Fox. Why, you ask? Because it doesn't resemble at all to the anime or the manga itself, for example: the Dragon Balls have been created by aliens and not Namekians, how Piccolo himself looked like (WEIRD), how the teenagers made fun of Goku and called him Giko, Goku actually goes to SCHOOL, and he also acts like a modern American teenager, Krillin's lack of appearance and so on). Everyone expected more, they actually expected a remake of DBZ but in live action, and instead they got rubbish.
I, for one, expected more as well, but you simply just can't make a live-action movie better than the anime or the manga itself. YOU JUST CAN'T! Period! And for the script-writers, producers, director of the movie...What can I say? I too was pissed off for having so many differences from the anime/manga, but they wanted to add something new to the story and make something a "bit" different, not a remake of it. Finally, I accepted their decision and watched it many times by now with joy, it is still Dragon Ball Z and not Mortal Combat or Street Fighter, it's Dragon Ball Z, and I still enjoyed it eventually. It's a tipical American movie, which we see all the time in theaters. Do you think the Japanese would have made a better one? Maybe, but then why wait so long? Because, they knew it will never be as good as the anime/manga Instead, the Koreans made one long ago, about 20 years ago. And the Chinese, which I haven't seen yet. I guess it's pretty good, considering the special effects they had that period of time. Some say, those movies are way better than this modern one. Can't say otherwise.
Nevertheless, people in the future will always try to make a live action-movie/film of DBZ, and who knows, maybe in time they will even succeed making a good one. And that's what these two brothers are attempting to do; a short 4-5 minute live action trailer of the Saiyan Saga. Unfortunately, for them to pull it off, they still need 5000 dollars donation. And this is where you fans come in. I truly believe, that they can actually make this work, that they can make a really exciting film, that everyone will like, an actual live-action trailer of the Saiyan Saga. Too bad though, that it's only a trailer. But this is only the beginning. Starting with them, a new era will begin, an era where technology will allow for even amateurs like me, to be able to make any live-action movie/film of an anime/manga and in the end, somewhat we will be able to succeed making better and better ones until we think that we actually did it, we actually made a genuine live-action movie of the respective anime/manga Hopefully, I too will live long enough to see it happen.
But enough said, here's a quote of the brothers:
Our Story
We are two brothers who run a small video production company in the UK. We've been Producing, Directing, Shooting and editing for our company for over five years now and have always talked about doing a Dragonball Z Fan Film. We grew up watching DBZ, and it provided many years of entertainment and enjoyment for us as we're sure it did for many of you. We, like every other DBZ fan, were sorely disappointed with Hollywood’s attempt and producing a live-action DBZ film. So this May we are set to shoot an extended live action fan trailer for the Saiyan Saga!
The trailer will be 4-5 minutes long packed full of the greatest moments and favourite characters from the Saiyan Saga. We have an absolutely amazing cast on board who you can see on the website:
www.kandkproductions.co.uk/dbz
This will be a professionally produced fan trailer made for the fans by the fans. We have professional make-up artistes and costume designers who will provide feature film quality costumes and prosthetics for all the characters that will really bring DBZ's iconic characters to life in a real and gritty way.
The Impact
If we can achieve what we have planned to do we will really have a DBZ live action film we can be proud of and that everyone can enjoy and share across the world.
What We Need & What You Get
We need $5000 to add to $5000 of our own money. This is to pay for the location, Travel, food and accommodation costs for our actors and crew (20 of us!) plus the high-quality costumes that will really make the difference when its comes to seeing your favourite DBZ characters in Live action. If we don't reach our campaign goal, then the trailer may suffer in quality as we don't have any more funds to give our-self, but if we can reach our campaign goal, we will be able to deliver a high end fan trailer that will blow your mind!
Other Ways You Can Help
Please share this campaign with your friends and family or anyone you think will want to see a Live action DBZ trailer! Thank you!
Unfortunately, this is all I can do for them; to advertise their goal. As you know, I live in Romania and the crisis is just terrible. I hardly have money to support myself. However, there are still many people, who have more than enough money for donations, to help out others than themselves, and many of them are DBZ fans. So, I'm writing for those of you, who have money, to help these two "amateur" brothers to accomplish something, which big/bigger companies failed to achieve. Thank you for your time...and your money too:)
